Newcastle United’s confirmed starting XI v Manchester United as Eddie Howe makes bold call

Newcastle United’s confirmed starting XI to take on Manchester United at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United’s starting XI is unchanged for a third consecutive game for the visit of Manchester United to St James’ Park (kick-off 4:30pm).

Three points for the Magpies this afternoon would see them leapfrog their visitors into third in the Premier League table on goal difference.

And head coach Eddie Howe has opted to keep faith with the same line-up that claimed back-to-back wins against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.

That means Allan Saint-Maximin keeps his place on the left wing, and the midfield three of Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock remains the same, despite Joelinton returning from a two-match suspension.

Saint-Maximin was forced off at half-time at the City Ground because of a tight hamstring but the two-week international allowed him time to recover, as it did for Nick Pope and Fabian Schar who were also carrying knocks.

Sven Botman partners Schar in the centre of defence after recovering from food poisoning that forced him to withdraw from the Netherlands squad.
