Newcastle United's confirmed starting XI v Tottenham Hotspur as double injury boost confirmed

Newcastle United's confirmed starting XI v Tottenham Hotspur: Magpies handed double injury boost.

Newcastle United have been handed a double injury boost for this afternoon's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur - with both Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff back in the matchday squad.

The Magpies have been without Wilson since the 2-0 defeat in Borussia Dortmund last month, while Longstaff has missed the last four matches against Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Everton because of an ankle problem.

The pair are on the bench and could be called into action with Eddie Howe naming the same starting XI from Thursday's 3-0 defeat at Everton. Jamaal Lascelles starts, despite picking up a dead leg last time out.

Eddie Howe's side have struggled on the road this season, winning just one of their seven Premier League away games. Meanwhile, Spurs are winless in five matches but are boosted by Heung-Min Son, who has been passed fit to lead the line.

"I think it'll require a similar performance to last year where we were at our best defensively and at our best in attack as well," said Howe when asked what'll take to get a result.

"That was a memorable day and it gave us a big lift as to what was ahead. We know the importance of this match."

United won 2-1 in North London last season following first-half goals from Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron. Howe's man can leapfrog Spurs in the table with three points.
