Eddie Howe’s side hit the 40-point mark after beating Crystal Palace 1-0 on Wednesday night and in the process moved up to 11th in the table.
Nine wins from 14 matches in 2022 - which includes a current run of six consecutive home wins - has seen the Magpies surge towards safety.
That form has been bettered only by title-chasing Liverpool, which has put United on the cusp of the top 10.
Seeking a fourth successive victory, Newcastle head to Carrow Road, a ground they haven’t won at since 1994.
Dean Smith’s men sit bottom of the table but Howe is still expecting a tough game.
He said: “You look back at their last two fixtures. They went to Old Trafford and played very, very well - they were really unfortunate not to get something from that game.
“The game before that was against Burnley and they were excellent. It’s difficult when you’re reviewing the game digitally to sample the atmosphere but it seemed like it was an intense game. The crowd there always gets behind their team. We have to be prepared for that.
“We have to be mentally right, I think that’s our biggest challenge after last week.”
Howe has already hinted at changes with this being his side’s third game in six days. Here’s the Newcastle United starting XI we’re predicting:
1. GK: Martin Dubravka
Dubravka has started the last 21 games for Newcastle, missing just one match since Howe arrived. Kept his sixth clean sheet of the season against Palace on Wednesday.
2. RB: Emil Krafth
Yet another solid display by Krafth last time out as he kept Wilfried Zaha’s threat to a minimum. A player who has surpassed expectations under Howe’s management. Photo: George Wood
3. CB: Jamaal Lascelles (in for Fabian Schar)
Time to recall the club’s captain? Lascelles’ only start since February came at Chelsea away. Schar has been outstanding, but is known to nursing a groin injury. Chance to rest him, perhaps.
4. CB: Dan Burn
The Blyth-born defender is loving every minute with his boyhood club. Certainly, the fans are loving him too, with Burn proving to be a shrewd piece of business at £15m.
