Eddie Howe has made four changes to his Newcastle United starting XI at Fulham with Matt Targett, Joelinton and Ryan Fraser named on the bench.
Sven Botman comes in for Targett, likely meaning that Dan Burn will switch to left-back. Sean Longstaff gets the nod ahead of Joelinton, as does Jacob Murphy over Fraser in attack.
NewcastleWorld understands Targett has been struggling with an injury this week, while Joelinton underwent a late fitness test in the build-up to the game.
The fourth and final change is Callum Wilson’s return after a five-game absence in place of the injured Alexander Isak.
Speaking about United’s growing injury list ahead of the game, Howe said: “People say over the international break you have a nice relaxing couple of weeks but it’s been anything but for me. It was a very difficult early part of the international break.
“You’re always concerned when your players go away, you always want them to come back in good health and enjoy playing for their country in a physically good condition. It was disrupted but it’s done now and we’ll pick up. There are no excuses from me about anything that’s happened.
“We have the group that we have and I’m confident with the players we have that we can attack these eight games between now and the World Cup.
“Certainly, we need to try and get everybody fit and we’re in the process of trying to do that. When we do, we’ve got a great squad.”
