How Newcastle United’s -£346m net spend over the last five years compares to the rest of the Premier League

While Newcastle United have had a very successful year in terms of transfers, bringing in the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman, they haven’t always been known to spend wisely. While pricey signings such Joelinton and Miguel Almirron have recently proven to be worth it, the Magpies have also splashed the cash on the likes of Yoshinori Muto, Jacob Murphy and Chris Wood.

This season has seen Newcastle’s new owners spend over £150 million so far - significantly more than any previous campaign. It comes as no surprise that they have forked out hefty fees for players such as Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
