Newcastle United’s predicted Premier League finish for next season with second signing imminent

The countdown to the start of the Premier League season has already begun - with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest first up for Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe is preparing for his full season in charge having guided the Magpies to Premier League safety.

United were in the relegation zone and without a win when Howe took charge in November but ended the campaign in 11th on 49 points - the club’s highest top-flight points total in eight years.

But the aim from the 2022/23 season is to do more than just survive. Under the club’s ambitious owners, a top 10 finish, you’d presume, is expected at the very least.

And Newcastle’s transfer business this summer will go a long way to helping Howe & Co achieve their objections.

Howe wasted no time in signing Matt Targett on a permanent basis from Aston Villa. And he’s set to be joined by Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, who is travelling to Tyneside on Thursday for a medical.

With two signings already through the door, predictions are being made on where Newcaste will finish in the Premier League next season.

We’ve taken a look at the latest market prices to find out have United are tipped to fair during the 2022/23 campaign.
