Newcastle United’s predicted starting XI v West Ham as Eddie Howe dealt £105m selection blow

Newcastle United’s predicted starting XI v West Ham United as Eddie Howe look to make it seven games unbeaten.

Newcastle United return to Premier League action this afternoon when they face West United at the London Stadium (kick-off 2pm).

The Magpies head to the capital on a high having marked their first Champions League home game for 20 years with a 4-1 victory over French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

And head coach Eddie Howe has urged his players to quickly refocus in hope of extending unbeaten their unbeaten to seven matches before the international break.

“We know it’s going to be a really difficult game but we’ve got to get our psychology right for the match,” Howe told reporters at his pre-match press conference. “If you don’t get the psychology right going into any game, the games are difficult enough but especially West Ham away and everything that game brings.

“We know that we can’t underestimate any team, any challenge, wherever we go. It’s just about being present and making sure we deliver what we need to deliver.”

United have a couple of injury doubts heading into the game. Joelinton and Callum Wilson, who both netted braces during the 5-1 win against West Ham in April, are facing a late fitness test.

And Howe will be forced into at least one change to his starting XI with Anthony Gordon suspended after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the league season versus Burnley last Saturday.

Here’s the Newcastle starting XI we’re predicting Howe to name:
