Newcastle United brought down the curtain on a dramatic season of home fixtures when they claimed a 2-0 win against Arsenal on Monday night.

An own-goal from England defender Ben White and yet another goal from Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes gave Eddie Howe’s men all three points after a barnstorming performance against the Champions League-chasing Gunners.

And as much as the on-field action attracted headlines, it was a stunning display in the St James Park stands that captured the imagination and the Magpies supporters roared their side to a fine win.

Supporters group ‘Wor Flags’ delivered on their pre-match promise as all four corners of the stadium took part in a stunning display that was the pre-cursor for 90 minutes of constant noise from the St James Park faithful.

United supporters have continued to back their side throughout a season that began with limited ambition and expectation and ended with what feels like unlimited possibilities.

Demand for tickets for next season will be higher than ever and the possibility of extending St James Park or a possible move to a new stadium will surely become a more prominent topic of discussion over the coming years.

But where does this season’s average attendance at St James ranks compared to Newcastle’s Premier League rivals?
