Newcastle United’s top performers in February - according to the stat experts

February has been a transformative month for Newcastle United as they boosted their bid for Premier League survival with a string of impressive results.

The momentum gained from a hard-earned 1-0 win at Leeds United and a largely successful January transfer window rolled into the first game of the month as Eddie Howe’s men celebrated a 3-1 home win against Everton.

That was followed up by another maximum at St James Park as Kieran Trippier’s second goal in as many games was enough to see off Aston Villa - although the win was soured by an injury suffered by the former Atletico Madrid defender.

Despite the absence of Trippier and key attacking duo Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin, the Magpies battled to a 1-1 draw at Champions League-chasing West Ham United and then earned a third win in four games as Joelinton and Joe Willock netted in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Brentford.

A month that began with United sat in the bottom three has ended with Howe’s men looking to move within touching distance of a place in mid-table when their March fixtures get underway with a St James Park meeting with Brighton and Hove Albion.

NewcastleWorld takes a look back at how the Magpies players have rated during their four February fixtures using ratings on the whoscored.com website.
