It was an interesting summer for Newcastle, who spent more than £100million to improve their squad.

According to The Age, the Magpies are keen on a deal to sign Australian A-League starlet Gerang Kuol.

It’s claimed Newcastle, Barcelona and Chelsea are all keen on the Central Coast Mariners forward, who has scored four goals in nine senior games to date.

The Magpies are likely to turn attention to signing some stars for the future in the coming months, and Kuol could be an option.

But it seems they face competition aplenty.

Moura interest

Following the closure of the summer transfer window, it emerged Newcastle may have expressed an interest in signing Tottenham star Lucas Moura.

And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed as much, explaining on Twitter: “Newcastle wanted Lucas Moura as they approached Tottenham during Deadline Day, same for Aston Villa,.

“Spurs decided to keep the player, never been advanced. Lucas future remains open as he’s out of contract in June 2023 and there are chances for a free move.”

Given Moura’s contract situation, Spurs could opt to sell the winger on a cut-price deal in January,

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle circle back for the attacker in the winter.
