Nine players Newcastle United could sign in the summer transfer window - and eight they won’t
“Patience is a virtue.” That was Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s message to supporters now the summer transfer window is open.
Social media platforms have been awash with nervous fans after the transfer sagas of Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike continue to play out in the public domain.
But one thing is for sure, whatever happens with particular deals, the Magpies will end the summer stronger than they started it.
Eddie Howe has already moved to recruit Matt Targett on a permanent basis after exercising a £15million clause in his loan agreement from Aston Villa.
A number of players, of course, have been linked as United fans eagerly await news on who will be joining their football club.
NewcastleWorld, bearing in mind the latest rumours, takes a look at the players that could join Newcastle this summer - and those that probably won’t.

1. Hugo Ekitike - could join
Some say the deal is dead - but that’s not completely true. A deal is in place with Reims, so if Ekitike’s representatives lower their hefty demands, then a transfer could still be struck. Admittedly, at this stage, that is a big if.

2. Dominic Calvert-Lewin - unlikely to join
Newcastle considered a move for Calvert-Lewin in the early stages of the transfer window but Everton’s massive price tag - around £50m - is likely to keep United at bay. The Toffees will be even keener to keep the striker after selling Richarlison to Spurs.

3. Armando Broja - could join
The Albanian international has emerged as a target for Newcastle but they face a wait to see what Chelsea do next with the striker following a successful season-long spell at Southampton.

4. Jesse Lingard - unlikely to join
Newcastle approached Lingard after attempting to sign him in January but swiftly discovered his extortionate wage demands. West Ham are said to have tabled a contract offer following his release from Manchester United.
