Social media platforms have been awash with nervous fans after the transfer sagas of Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike continue to play out in the public domain.
But one thing is for sure, whatever happens with particular deals, the Magpies will end the summer stronger than they started it.
Eddie Howe has already moved to recruit Matt Targett on a permanent basis after exercising a £15million clause in his loan agreement from Aston Villa.
A number of players, of course, have been linked as United fans eagerly await news on who will be joining their football club.
NewcastleWorld, bearing in mind the latest rumours, takes a look at the players that could join Newcastle this summer - and those that probably won’t.
1. Hugo Ekitike - could join
Ekitike, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Monday, is currently on holiday after competing in the Toulon Tournament. Newcastle remain very hopeful of concluding a deal for the French forward in the coming weeks.
2. Dean Henderson - unlikely to join
Sources in Manchester claimed Henderson was set to join Newcastle in the early stages of the summer window but it quickly became clear that wasn’t the case. A deal might have happened in the latter stages IF the 25-year-old didn’t join Nottingham Forest.
3. Sven Botman - could join
Like Ekitike, this is a saga that has dragged on and on since January. AC Milan or Newcastle remain the Dutch defender’s most likely destination but nothing is yet set in stone. The Magpies, despite the delay, are not giving up yet.

4. Lucas Paqueta - unlikely to join
A transfer all Newcastle fans - and best mate Bruno Guimaraes - are willing to happen. But at this stage, it’s not a deal Howe & Co are looking to complete, with other targets taking priority.
