Asides from a positivity surrounding the result, one of the big talking points to come from the episode was the midfield three after Joelinton and Sean Longstaff were hooked at half-time for Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock.

The midfield lost total control for the final 15 minutes of the first-half and he [Eddie Howe] made the changes,” said Jordan. “He could have delayed it, waited until the hour-mark.

“I thought it was a very big call to take Joelinton off. He was good for the first 20 minutes [against Wolves] but I don’t think he’s had a very good start to the season.

“He’s had moments with the goal against Southampton and the assist versus Spurs but if you look at his performances in the main, he hasn’t been that good.”

While Jordan highlighted Joelinton, Liam believes neither he, Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes are immune from being dropped ahead of this weekend’s trip to Fulham.

Liam said: “I think all three midfielders really struggled. Bruno, because he’s the captain and the most influential player in the team had to stay on. And I thought with Tonali in there, it was better.

“It is definitely food for thought because there is a lot of talk about taking Longstaff out and bringing Tonali in but I don’t think anyone is safe in that midfielder. Tonali and Willock could come in for any of them.

“You almost need more than your 11 players to win a football match in the Premier League so if Joelinton or Longstaff is on the bench you know you’re going to get 20-30 minutes of them coming in and charging about. The other way around, Tonali will come in and give you a little bit more.”
