Newcastle United suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat at the hands of 10-man Everton.
In a game lacking any kind of quality, Eddie Howe’s men left Goodison Park empty-handed by their own wrongdoing.
With the scoreline at 0-0, the Toffees were reduced to 10-men on 83 minutes when midfielder Allan was shown a red card following a VAR review.
Craig Pawson initially issued a yellow card before a check at the monitor saw the referee overturn his decision to a red for a late challenge on Allan Saint-Maximin.
The Magpies, however, failed to hold on for at least a point as Alex Iwobi struck in the ninth minute of stoppage time.
There was a long delay at Goodison Park after the interval after a fan cuffed themselves to the post at the Gwladys Street End.

5. Matt Targett - 6
Delivered some dangerous set pieces into Everton’s box, particularly in the first-half.
6. Bruno Guimaraes - 7

Returned to the side after illness. Found pockets of space but never produced the quality in the final third.

Nursed his groin injury to play his part at Goodison Park. Had the odd burst from midfield but United didn’t see enough of it.
