One change & Heung-Min Son worry: Tottenham Hotspur's predicted starting XI v Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur's predicted starting XI v Newcastle United as Heung-Min Son decision made.

Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-Min Son is being assessed ahead of his side's Premier League clash at home to Newcastle United this afternoon (kick-off 4:30pm).

Son was forced off in the latter stages of Tottenham's 2-1 defeat to West Ham United on Thursday night and was in visible discomfort with his back as he sat down on the bench.

"No update yet," said Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou on Friday. "We'll see how he is because he was a bit sore after the game. We'll wait and see what the outcome is for Sunday. There's nothing, apart from Sonny, that looks too significant."

Spurs are already without Ivan Perisic, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon and Eric Dier in what is a similar injury crisis to Newcastle's.

The Magpies were without 12 senior players for the 3-0 defeat to Everton while Jamaal Lascelles picked up a dead leg during the game. With just two days recovery time, the defender is a doubt against Tottenham.

Eddie Howe's side can leapfrog their hosts in the Premier League table with three points. Spurs can move level on points with fourth place Manchester City.

"The games you have with the teams around you always take on more importance," admitted Howe. "There are usually tight games, entertaining games, they certainly have been for us this season.

"We've usually been able to raise our game for these days and that's what we need to do again."
