The international break has come at a cost to Paris Saint-Germain with two key players picking up injuries that will see them miss Tuesday's Champions League clash against Newcastle United.

Warren Zaire-Emery was making his France debut and had just scored to make it 3-0 in his country's 14-0 win over Gibraltar when he went to ground with an ankle injury.

PSG, via a club statement, later confirmed Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps' fears that the 17-year-old would be out of action for several weeks.

Deschamps said: "It's still a significant injury that will certainly take several weeks [to heal]. "You never want to lose players in matches like this. It could have been more serious."

Zaire-Emery, who has started all but one of their 15 fixture this campaign, is expected to be out until the end of the year.

The second injury blow is captain and centre-back Marquinhos.

The Brazilian withdrew at half-time as his nation lost 1-0 to Argentina - the first time Selecao have lost a World Cup qualifier on home soil.

Although his hamstring injury has been described as "small", it is enough to rule him out for 10 days, ruling him out against Newcastle.

But United too have their injury problems.

Already ruled out of Tuesday's trip to Paris are Sven Botman (knee), Harvey Barnes (toe), Callum Wilson (hamstring), Dan Burn (back), Jacob Murphy (shoulder), Elliot Anderson (back), Matt Targett (hamstring) and Sandro Tonali (banned).

Eddie Howe's side thrashed PSG 4-1 in the first meeting at St James' Park but since then have lost back-to-back matches against Borussia Dortmund.

United must avoid defeat to keep their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive.
