Pep Guardiola & Ederson both said the same thing about Newcastle United after Man City game

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has revealed he knowingly played long passes as a way of beating Newcastle United’s high press.
And it was a plan that worked to a T, with the Brazilian providing the opening goal in his side’s 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It was the 31-year-old’s sixth Premier League assist for Man City since joining from Benfica seven-and-a-half-years ago. He overtakes former England international Paul Robinson as the goalkeeper with the most Premier League assists.
“I’m happy to make this mark. I hope there is more to come,” said Ederson. “It’s a difficult team to play against because they mark man to man. I see the space, because they go man for man, the player free is the goalkeeper.
“Up front they’re man for man and we have good fast players, Savinho, Marmoush and Erling [Haaland], so it’s easy, I just put the ball there.”

Ederson pretty much repeated what Man City boss Pep Guardiola said in his post-match press conference.
"There are always men free when the keeper has the ball and Newcastle defend really well how aggressive they are in the high pressing, and afterwards how tight and compact is deep, and we saw with the pace that maybe in the past we didn't have up front,” Guardiola said.
"But with Phil [Foden], Omar and Erling [Haaland], you know, when you can win that duel in the space and the ball comes in the position, it's one against one with 30-40 metres and Ederson is the best in the world in these kind of situations.”
Once the deadlock was broken, the long balls became less frequent and the home side reverted back to their familiar passing style. Marmoush completed his first-half hat-trick before substitute James McAtee added a fourth in the 84th minute.
