Barcelona will demand £68million from Newcastle United for Raphinha this summer, according to reports.

Financial uncertainties continue to plague the Catalan giants, with possible departures at the end of the season. Raphinha has endured a mixed time at the Camp Nou since his big-money move from Leeds United almost two years ago.

Fitness struggles have hampered the Brazilian’s time but a recent upturn in form has sent a telling reminder of his qualities. The 27-year-old bagged a stunning brace to put Paris Saint-Germain to the sword in the first leg of their Champions League clash.

Raphinha bagged again to put Barca 1-0 up in last night’s second leg - until Ronald Araujo’s 29th-minute red card spun the tie on its head. He now has nine goals and 10 assists across all competitions - despite completing an entire 90 minutes on just four occasions.

Newcastle were one of several Premier League clubs reportedly chasing Raphinha before his Barcelona switch. However, a lack of European football - and the Nou Camp allure - saw him head to La Liga.

His stock remains high in the Premier League, with one unnamed club set to be keen on the winger. Barca prodigy Lamine Yamal’s arrival has also cast doubt about Raphinha’s future.

Spanish outlet Sport claim Barcelona have slapped a £68million price tag for any potential suitor. From Newcastle’s perspective, the right flank will undoubtedly be a priority for Eddie Howe this summer.

Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy have been found wanting at the highest level, although the latter has become a handy utility player. Yankuba Minteh, at 19, has turned heads on loan at Feyenoord and may also be given a chance to shine next season.
