Premier League table: Predicted finish for Newcastle United, Leeds United and Norwich City after busy transfer window
It was a productive month as the Magpies recruited five new players in their battle to retain their top-flight status.
Kieran Trippier arrived from Atletico Madrid for £12million, while Chris Wood left Burnley after Newcastle activated the £25million release clause in his contract.
Perhaps the most exciting of all the January signings Bruno Guimaraes was signed from Lyon for £33.5million plus add-ons, despite interest from some Europe’s biggest club.
And the window was capped off on deadline day with Matt Targett joining on loan from Aston Villa before Dan Burn joined his boyhood club from Brighton for £13million.
The focus now firmly turns to Premier League survival – with Everton up next at St James’ Park.
The big question is, will Newcastle be successful in their survival mission? And if so, which teams out of Norwich City, Watford and Burnley are destined for the drop?
