Newcastle United’s return to the Champions League, having not participated in the tournament since the 2002/03 season, has not been quite as triumphant as some Toon fans may have hoped for. So far, they have won one, drawn one and lost one, with those results coming against PSG, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

Today, we’ll be looking at how Newcastle’s group - as well as other groups in the Champions League - are expected to play out after all games have been played, according to GIVEMESPORT.

Currently, the Mags are 3rd in Group F of the Champions League - last night, they picked up a home defeat against Dortmund, which saw their position plummet - but where they will they be after six games have been played?

How is Newcastle United’s group expected to pan out?

According to the predicted tables, Newcastle are set to finish 2nd in their group, which will see them qualify for the last 16 of the tournament - however, they will be forced to take on a team that finished first in their respective group. They have a 53.3% chance of qualification, while PSG have 73.58%.

PSG are predicted to finish top of the group, despite losing their second group game to Newcastle by a wide scoreline of 4-1. Dortmund are expected to finish 3rd with 50.39%, while AC Milan are pegged to finish bottom of Group F with 22.73%.

Which other teams are predicted to make it through?

Newcastle are not the only English club that GIVEMESPORT thinks will progress to the knockout rounds of the 2023/24 Champions League. They expect Arsenal, who have been drawn against Lens, PSV and Sevilla, to dominate their group and finish at the top of it.
