The 2021/22 Premier League campaign hasn’t long been over - but predictions for next season are already being made.

It was a campaign like no other for Newcastle United, with the PIF-led takeover inspiring new hope and ambition on Tyneside after a tiresome 14 years under Mike Ashley.

The Magpies’ new owners have ambitions to be the world’s best but all that was put on the backburner as they battled top-flight relegation.

There were moments when United seemed destined for the drop but Eddie Howe proved to be the club’s saviour.

With 38 points claimed in 2022 - form bettered only by Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur - Newcastle survived and recorded an 11th place finish.

Howe and his players will now take a well-deserved break ahead of busy summer, which will see plenty of activity in the summer transfer window.
