Newcastle United still have plenty of work to do in order to get their squad ready for the new 2026-27 Premier League season.
The Magpies have made two high-profile sales in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali to Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively, and are using the £169million gained from those deals to fund their squad rebuild.
So far, Eddie Howe’s squad have welcomed 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims, 20-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim and 18-year-old midfielder Sean Steur from Ajax - but there are several other positions that still need strengthening.
Howe’s first-team squad, excluding those who were involved at the World Cup, reported back for pre-season training this week and kick-off their preparations for the new season with a behind-closed-doors friendly against National League North side Darlington on Saturday.
While progress has been slower than what many would have hoped on the transfer front, United still have five weeks until they begin their Premier League campaign at home to Liverpool.
Only then will people know the true extent of Newcastle’s squad and their hopes for the upcoming season.
But in the meantime, we asked AI tool Grok to predict the final Premier League table - and here’s what it came up with:
