Premier League attendance table: Newcastle United, Leeds, Aston Villa & others compared

The scramble for tickets shows excitement is building on Tyneside as the Magpies battle for success on two fronts.

Newcastle United have created a whole host of memories during the first half of what already feels like the most exciting season in recent times.

Last weekend’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace meant Eddie Howe’s side have reached the midway point of the campaign with just one league defeat to their name. Repeating that performance during the second half of the season would surely see Champions League football return to St James Park for the first time since 2003.

And another remarkable occasion at Gallowgate potentially lies in wait as Southampton travel to Tyneside for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night. Joelinton’s second-half goal gave the Magpies a narrow advantage in their bid to reach the final of a major cup competition for the first time since Ruud Gullit’s United were beaten by Manchester United in the 1999 FA Cup Final.

With excitement building and sell-out signs going up at St James Park on a regular basis, NewcastleWorld looks at how the Magpies average attendance compares to their Premier League rivals.
