Premier League make official announcement as Newcastle United, Aston Villa & West Ham impacted

The Premier League has confirmed the date of which Newcastle United and their top-flight rivals will discover their fixture list for the 2024-25 season.

The current campaign is drawing to a close with Eddie Howe’s side having just five games left to play. United currently sit seventh in the table but still have one eye on sixth as they look to secure European qualification.

But once the season is over, focus will immediately turn to the next. And here’s everything you need to know about the potential fixture list:

When will Newcastle United discover their 2024-25 fixture list?

Dates for all 380 matches will be released at 9am on Tuesday, June 18 - just under a month on from their final outing of 2023-24 away to Brentford in May.

Newcastle have been drawn at home on the opening day in each of their last nine Premier League seasons, including three in a row against Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United.

When does the 2024-25 Premier League season get underway?

The 2024-25 season gets underway on the weekend commencing Saturday, August 17. Meanwhile, the final match round of matches will be played on Sunday, May, 25 when all games kick off simultaneously as usual.

The schedule will consist of 33 weekends, four midweek round of matches and one Bank Holiday matchweek, although that could change slightly if Newcastle qualify for Europe and progress in the domestic cup competitions.

Are there any changes to the schedule?

The Premier League has confirmed that, in keeping with previous commitments made to clubs to address the congested schedule across Christmas and New Year, arrangements will be made to allow more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match.

That means there will be no fixture on Tuesday, December 24.

The mid-season break has also been removed from the calendar to allow a mid-August start to the league season, allowing clubs to be better able to ensure that players get a consecutive three-week break in the summer.
