Premier League table 22-23 predicted: Controversial finishes for Newcastle United, Leeds & West Ham

The Premier League returns this weekend as Newcastle United welcome newly-promoted Nottingham Forest to St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe’s side have enjoyed a productive pre-season with trips to Austria and Portugal, which included some challenging opponents.

The Magpies faced last season’s Champions League quarter-finalists Benfica and were narrowly on the wrong side of a five-goal thriller.

United then hosted Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao less than 24 hours apart as Howe got 90 minutes into a number of his first-team players.

Both ended in morale-boosting wins too, but on Saturday, at 3pm, the real thing starts, and United will be looking to kick off their league campaign with three points.

For the first time in a long time, Newcastle head into a season where the aim is far greater than just to survive relegation.

But where are Howe’s side predicted to finish at the end of the 2022-23 Premier League season?

Data experts at FiveThirtyEight have crunched the numbers to give every team’s probability of winning the league, being promoted and being relegated.

With an explanation of how the model works HERE, here’s where data experts are tipping every team to finish and how many points they will get in the Premier League next season.
