Newcastle United were involved in their fair share of VAR and refereeing controversies across the 2021/22 Premier League season - but how much did that impact their final league position?
The video assistant referees have been the subject of much debate since their introduction in the English top-flight ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
VAR was involved on the Magpies’ final day victory at Burnley last Sunday when the officials spotted a handball from defender Nathan Collins in the area. However, VAR hasn’t always worked in United’s favour.
The question is, would Eddie Howe’s side be in a better or worst position without VAR? NewcastleWorld takes a look.
A reminder that Newcastle finished 11th in the table on 49 points - their highest top-flight tally in eight years.
