£15m defender named in Newcastle United Premier League squad after two-year omission

Newcastle United have submitted their squad to the Premier League for the second-half of the 2024-25 campaign.

All 20 top-flight clubs must submit their squad list to the Premier League following at the end of both the summer and winter transfer windows. But when the market is open, clubs are permitted to play any contracted player.

United named a squad of 25 for the first-half of the season but two have dropped out.

Miguel Almiron brought an end to his six-year stay on Tyneside after re-joining Atlanta United for £10million, while Lloyd Kelly has moved to Juventus on loan, which includes a £20million obligation to buy in the summer.

Meanwhile, Jamal Lewis, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been brought back into the squad after injury cut-short his loan spell at Brazilian side Sao Paulo.

Lewis was last named in Newcastle’s squad for the 2022-23 season after spending last season on loan at Championship side Watford.

Each Premier League squad list can include up to 25 players made up of at least eight ‘homegrown’ players. Players born on or after January 1, 2003 do not need to be included in the 25-man squad, which benefits the likes of Will Osula, Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley.

Any academy player such as Trevan Sanusi, Garang Kuol, Ben Parkinson, Alfie Harrison and Leo Shahar also don't need to be included to be eligible to play in the Premier League.

Here's the squad list Newcastle United are expected to submit to the Premier League in the coming days:
