Newcastle United target Scott McTominay has told friends he wants to leave Manchester United this summer, according to a report.

Having been a regular under previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 26-year-old has been frustrated by his lack of game time during Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge. McTominay started six of the Red Devils’ opening seven Premier League games but has only managed four starts since October.

But should Eddie Howe’s side revive their interest, then it’s likely McTominay will want the move. According to Football Insider, the Scotland international has told friends he wants to leave Old Trafford for the good of his career.

NewcastleWorld reported in March that the Red Devils are willing to sell their academy graduate, who has scored 19 goals in 207 appearances,

A central midfielder is a priority position for Magpies head coach Howe this summer after he was unable to replace Jonjo Shelvey, who left to join Nottingham Forest on January deadline day.

Howe has found success with a three-man midfield over the last 12 months, but Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Elliot Anderson are the only senior options.
