The agent of RB Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko made it known he was in Newcastle on Tuesday night.
Posting on Instagram, Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic uploaded a photo in an airport with the caption ‘destination?’ before an image of Newcastle’s Quayside followed.

It was news that spread like wildfire among the Newcastle United fanbase on social media, causing Basanovic to delete the post within 12 hours.
Magpies supporters quickly did some digging into which players Basanovic represents via his company Pro Transfer Agency - and Sesko stood out.

Eddie Howe is keen to recruit a young striker after missing out on France under-20s international Hugo Ekitike to Paris Saint-Germain.
And in many ways, Sesko is within a similar profile to Ekitike. He’s only 19-year-old and is viewed as a star in the making.
Sesko scored 11 goals in 37 appearances for Salzburg last season and has also been capped 13 times by Slovenia.

There has been no confirmation of Newcastle’s apparent interest in Sesko - or that Basanovic was on Tyneside for business - but it certainly brings a lot of intrigue.
But sources in Salzburg who have spoken to the Austrian side’s sporting director Christoph Freud believe Sesko will stay, as relayed by i News’ Northern Football Correspondent Mark Douglas.

Some transfer links can be quashed straight away, but this feels like one to watch.
