Sandro Tonali emotion & 15 brilliant unseen photos from Newcastle United 4-0 Crystal Palace

15 photos from Newcastle United 4-0 Crystal Palace as Eddie Howe’s side unbeaten their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Four goals, three points and eight games unbeaten, it’s fair to say Newcastle United couldn’t be in a better place heading into Wednesday night’s Champions League clash at home to Borussia Dortmund.

Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace was routine as they come. When Jacob Murphy opened the scoring just four minutes in, the result never looked in doubt. Further goals from Anthony Gordon, Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson then helped make it emphatic.

But on this occasion, it wasn’t just about the result.

Sandro Tonali, who is facing a lengthy ban from football amid an investigation into alleged illegal betting, was introduced from the bench 20 minutes from the end and cut an emotional figure as players, staff and fans rallied around him.

Tonali was thrusted to the front of the lap of honour and full-time and the St James’ Park faithful showed their support in abundance.

Here are 15 photos that tell the story of Newcastle’s afternoon against Palace.
