Former Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley has teased a St James’ Park return after updating a social media message about the club.
Staveley went on Instagram this week to praise the team after their remarkable 2-0 win at Arsenal in the first leg of the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon goals have put the Magpies in the driving seat to reach their second Wembley final in three years.

The post sent fans into overdrive, with lots jumping on to lap praise on her for the job she did in not only bringing the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia takeover to Tyneside, but also push the club forward into a new era prior to her departure in the summer of 2024.
So touched by the messages, Staveley then jumped back on to post an edited message, in which she teases a St James’ Park return, as well as thanking fans for their such positive responses.

The post read: “EDIT: I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the comments - I read everyone and feel incredibly humbled by the love and support from everyone! I miss St James’s a great deal and will most definitely see you all soon. Big thank you 🤩 A huge well done to the @nufc team on their brilliant result in the first leg of the Carabao Cup! I’ve no doubt they will go on to do just as well in the next match. Huge congratulations to Eddie and the entire squad 🖤🤍 #wormandy.”

Meanwhile, Staveley has accepted a new role as an 'advisor' to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation for the 2034 World Cup.
Staveley was the catalyst for change at St James’ Park, as she was brought to the football club by Owen Brown, advisor to then manager Rafa Benitez, along with fellow PCP Capital Partners director, and husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi.
From there, the couple fell in love with the Magpies, and pushed to find investment to buy out then owner Mike Ashley. Using her contacts in the Middle East, financier Staveley got a seat at the table of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia boardroom, and the rest, they say, is history.
After three years at the helm, Staveley and Ghodoussi, loved by fans, left the club.

It was reported by City AM that Staveley’s close relationship with PIF resulted in her being consulted over the new role. And NewcastleWorld understands Staveley has accepted the offer of the role with SAFF.
SAFF are said to want to use her experience and contacts at clubs across Europe and use her as a ‘sounding board’ as world football prepares for a second Winter World Cup in the Middle East.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s bid for the World Cup was unopposed and subsequently approved by FIFA last month.
