The winner of England vs Senegal is likely to face France in the World Cup quarter-finals
England secured their place in the 2022 World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday as they comfortably beat Wales 3-0 in their final group stage match. Their upcoming opponents had already been confirmed the day before, with Senegal claiming a narrow victory over Ecuador to take them to second in Group A.
It was Ismaila Sarr and Kalidou Koulibaly - both playing their club football in England - that claimed the three points for the Afrian side and they will be two of a number of familiar faces that the Three Lions will take on this weekend.
Ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated meeting between the two countries, we take a look at some Senegal cult heroes that have plied their trade in the Premier League and the lower leagues.

1. Ismaila Sarr
Ismaila Sarr has been one of the Premier League’s most exciting players in recent seasons, making it a huge surprise that he has remained with Watford in the Championship. The winger has been linked with a number of elite clubs.

2. Mohamed Diame
Diame has enjoyed spells with Wigan, West Ham, Hull City and Newcastle United. He won the Championship play-offs with Hull where he scored the winning goal, while he also helped the Magpies win the Championship title a year later.

3. Cheikhou Kouyate
Kouyate has been in the Premier League for what feels like forever, joining West Ham in 2014 before signing for Crystal Palace four years later. The midfielder has most recently moved to newly promoted Nottingham Forest and has made one appearance for Senegal in this winter's World Cup.

4. Mame Biram Diouf
Diouf is well known for his time with Stoke City, spending six years with the club after previously making a handful of appearances for Man United. The forward scored 25 goals during his time with the Potters, only reaching double figures in the Premier League once (2014-15).
