Sensational Gareth Southgate and Eddie Howe 'swap deal' claims emerge with Man United and Aston Villa also name-checked

Gareth Southgate's most likely destination is Newcastle United as Toon chiefs prepare for an Eddie Howe approach from the FA

Just as the England drama begins to wind down after Euro 2024 - another twist takes place. Newcastle United have been thrown into a managerial tug-of-war as Eddie Howe has become the firm public favourite to replace Gareth Southgate.

Toon CEO Darren Eales let slip yesterday that Howe penned a bumper contract extension last summer. However, that has done little to quell speculation that an FA approach is imminent.

Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter and Maurcio Pochettino are both linked with the vacant Three Lions hot seat. But what about Southgate? Where will the 53-year-old go following almost a decade in charge?

If the bookmakers are to be believed, Newcastle fans could be in for a shock. Here is, according to the money, Southgate’s next destination once he enjoys his break from the game.
