It’s been a busy start to the summer transfer window for Newcastle United - with further signings set to follow.
Eddie Howe’s side kicked off their summer transfer business with the arrival of Matt Targett on permanent basis from Aston Villa.
The Magpies were linked with Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi but Targett’s form during his successful loan spell last season made his £15million signing a no brainer.
Next through the door was England international Nick Pope.
While sources in Manchester insisted Dean Henderson was on his way to Tyneside, Newcastle quietly went about their business in completing a deal for Pope.
United paid around £12million to Burnley to recruit Pope, who will now rival Martin Dubravka for the No.1 jersey.
Then, on Tuesday evening, Newcastle confirmed the arrival of the man they so desperately wanted - Lille defender Sven Botman.
A six-month long chase ended in delight for the Magpies, who beat Italian champions AC Milan to his signature to put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
A more than productive start to the window for Newcastle but they aren’t finished there.
NewcastleWorld, bearing in mind the latest rumours, takes at a look at the players that could join Newcastle this summer - and those that probably won’t.

1. Hugo Ekitike - could join
Some say the deal is dead - but that’s not completely true. A deal is in place with Reims, so if Ekitike’s representatives lower their hefty demands, then a transfer could still be struck. Admittedly, at this stage, that is a big if. | AFP via Getty Images

2. Dominic Calvert-Lewin - unlikely to join
Newcastle considered a move for Calvert-Lewin in the early stages of the transfer window but Everton’s massive price tag - around £50m - is likely to keep United at bay. The Toffees will be even keener to keep the striker after selling Richarlison to Spurs. | Getty Images

3. Armando Broja - could join
The Albanian international has emerged as a target for Newcastle but they face a wait to see what Chelsea do next with the striker following a successful season-long spell at Southampton. | Getty Images

4. Jesse Lingard - unlikely to join
Newcastle approached Lingard after attempting to sign him in January but swiftly discovered his extortionate wage demands. West Ham are said to have tabled a contract offer following his release from Manchester United. | Manchester United via Getty Imag
