Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Everton to sign Anthony Gordon.
It’s understood the Magpies have reached a £45million agreement for the 21-year-old, who is due on Tyneside this weekend to undergo his medical.

Gordon has been pushing for a move to St James’ Park having missed training on three straight days this week, although the first of those was planned.
He did return to Finch Farm this morning but is now preparing to travel to the North East to finalise his transfer to Eddie Howe’s side after sit-down talks.
In light of Chris Wood’s surprise departure to Nottingham Forest last Friday, United quickly reignited their interest in the Liverpool-born forward.

Newcastle had a bid rejected for Gordon last summer, and negotiations with the Toffees have still proven difficult after they valued the player closer to the £60m Chelsea were reportedly willing to pay six months ago.
But plenty has changed in that time, not least the turmoil at Goodison Park with supporters stepping up their protests against the club’s ownership and board after falling into the Premier League relegation places. Frank Lampard was sacked on Monday and is set to be replaced by Sean Dyche.

Indeed, Gordon was one of the players targeted following the 2-1 defeat to Southampton almost a fortnight ago. A group of fans were recorded surrounding and screaming at Gordon’s car and put road blockers in the way of it.
Everton’s stance has been weakened in the last 24 hours after Gordon made it abundantly clear his intention to leave. Newcastle have agreed a £40m fee, including £5m in potential bonuses. Personal terms have already been settled.
Since starring in Everton’s battle against Premier League relegation last season, Gordon has suffered a dip in form of late. The former Preston North End loanee has started once since the World Cup break, and has just three goals to his name in total in 2022-23.

Gordon, it seems, feels the time is right to start fresh after being on the books at Everton since he was 11-years-old.
