Steve Bruce ‘wants’ reunion with Newcastle United talent, Toon ‘vying’ for 18-goal hitman

Newcastle United face an unenviable trip to the Etihad on Sunday afternoon to face a Manchester City side who will be looking to bounce back from their midweek Champions League defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

For their part, Eddie Howe’s men will be hoping to avoid a second consecutive defeat, having suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Liverpool last time out.

But regardless of matters on the pitch, with the end of the season fast approaching, attention is increasingly shifting towards the Magpies’ prospective transfer activity.

With that in mind, we’ve gathered up all of the latest transfer news and speculation from St. James’ Park below...

Toon keen on Agalarov

Newcastle United are rumoured to be vying for the transfer of Ufa striker Gamid Agalarov this summer.

The 21-year-old Russian has hit 18 goals in his home country this season, and is understood to be attracting attention from a number of clubs.

According to Sport24, the Magpies were considering a swoop for the forward in January, and could look to reignite their interest in the coming months.

Given Ufa’s relatively modest standing in the Russian game, it’s claimed that Agalarov could be allowed to leave for a fairly cheap fee if and when the time does come for him find a new club.

Bruce wants Anderson

West Brom are one of several clubs interested in signing Newcastle United sensation Elliot Anderson on loan next season, according to i News journalist Mark Douglas.

The teenager has enjoyed a hugely fruitful temporary stint with Bristol Rovers this term, and has been named EFL Young Player of the Month for April.

Understandably, his eye-catching performances have started to garner attention from several admirers, including, it would seem, former Toon Army boss Steve Bruce, who is now in charge of the Baggies.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Douglas said: “Elliot Anderson is a Sky Bet League Two ‘cheat code’ – but he nearly didn’t go out on loan.

“Bristol Rovers and Joey Barton have managed him well and could yet go up.

“West Brom one of clubs who want him for next season (along with most of the Championship and Sheffield Wednesday).”

Chelsea will sell Kepa

Chelsea will look to sell goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer transfer window amid interest from Newcastle United, according to ESPN.

The Spaniard has barely been given a chance in the first team at Stamford Bridge since the Blues signed Senegalese number one Edouard Mendy in 2020, and is understood to be deemed surplus to requirements in West London.

The 27-year-old is said to be on a wage packet of around £150,00-a-week, and the Daily Star reported in February that Chelsea will demand a fee of around £50 million for his signature.
