The Zapata links resurfaced in the Italian last week after first being linked with a move for the Colombian in January.

Hide AdIt’s no secret that head coach Eddie Howe is keen to sign a striker this summer, although it will ideally be a player who is younger.
United had expected to land Hugo Ekitike, 20, before difficulties with his agent saw the transfer stall.
Ekitike, of course, joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy next summer.
Zapata at 31-years-old, doesn’t fit the mold Howe is understood to be looking for, which casts over the Zapata links.

Zapata could feature at St James’ Park at the end of the month when Newcastle entertain Atalanta in a pre-season friendly.
