Sven Botman injury: Update provided on £35m Newcastle United man ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has issued a positive update to Magpies fans regarding the injury status of top defender Sven Botman [via The Shields Gazette]. The 23-year-old has missed the Mags’ last two games in the Premier League, but he could be set for a return sooner rather than later.

Since joining the club in 2022, Botman has formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Fabian Schar - however, the pair have been split up during Botman’s injury absence. Instead, captain Jamaal Lascelles has been filling in the gaps, as well as auxiliary left-back Dan Burn.

Earlier in the season, Botman scored his first-ever goal in the Premier League during Newcastle’s 8-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
