'Thank you' - Newcastle United new signing pictured at St James' Park as two-year contract agreed
Following the arrivals of John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos earlier this month, the Magpies have handed out a professional contract to 18-year-old goalkeeper James Taylor.

Hide AdTaylor came through the youth ranks at National League South side Hemel Hempstead and made six senior appearances last season. He has previously captained England Schoolboys.
The teenager’s school, Samuel Whitbread Academy, confirmed his move on social media. Taylor is pictured holding up a 2024-25 Newcastle goalkeeper shirt along with the caption: “Wow! “We are pleased to announce that our 1st XI Captain & GK James Taylor has earned a two-year professional contract at premier league side @NUFC.
“After captaining England Schoolboys, he now makes the next step in his journey, proud of you JT!”

Hide AdHemel Hempstead then released a club statement on Taylor’s move to the North East. The player was quoted thanking some of the club’s coaches.
He said: "A massive thank you to everyone at the club for giving me the opportunity to step into senior football. Even bigger thank you to both Dmitri and 'Kingy' [Craig King] for all of their support and guidance."
Newcastle United continue to strengthen academy
Earlier this month, Newcastle confirmed three new academy arrivals on scholarship deals - striker Kayden Lucas, winger Ezra Tika-Lemba and defender Aaron Epia.

Hide AdLucas was offered a deal after scoring nine goals in six appearances for Clevedon Town under-18s. Tika-Lemba is formerly of West Ham United while Epia joined Newcastle after opting against staying at Everton.
