Eddie Howe and his Newcastle United squad are fully focused on their challenge for a place in next season’s Champions League as the season heads into its final two months.
The Magpies will entertain top four rivals Manchester United in an eagerly anticipated clash at St James Park on Sunday afternoon knowing a win would take them level on points with Erik ten Hag’s side and boost their hopes of returning to European football’s elite for the first time in 20 years.
But there is hard work going on behind the scenes at St James Park with plans being formulated for the summer transfer window as the United hierarchy look to build on the remarkable progress made throughout an increasingly memorable window. The summer signings of the likes of Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak have made Newcastle a genuine and considerable threat to the Premier League’s leading lights.
More new signings will follow this summer, with the Magpies said to be keen to add a centre-back, left-back, midfielder and at least one forward to their ranks. There are several targets that could be available on cut-price deals as they enter the final 12 months of their deals with their current clubs.

1. Hakan Calhanoglu - Inter
Newcastle have been tipped to make a move for the Inter midfielder. The latest reports have claimed it would take a £22million offer this summer as he enters the final year of his deal at the San Siro.

4. Ousmane Dembele - Barcelona
The France international has been linked with a move to St James Park on a number of occasions since the PIF-led takeover of the Magpies in October 2021.
