Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi insists the club’s journey is “just beginning” after Premier League safety was all-but secured against Crystal Palace. Eddie Howe’s side moved onto 40 points - 15 above the relegation zone - after Miguel Almiron’s stunning first-half strike sealed a 1-0 victory versus Patrick Vieira’s Palace. Although not mathematically sealed yet, the Magpies can begin to plan for another season of top-flight football and build towards the new owners’ ambition to compete for trophies and European qualification. Ghodoussi, along with fellow co-owners Amanda Staveley and Jamie Reuben, plus non-executive chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan, there on behalf of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, headed to the dressing room at full-time. All three joined in the dressing room photo, which has become somewhat symbolic during Howe’s time in charge. Tweeting after the game, Ghodoussi said: “What can I say……40 pts….so proud of this team, of this club, of this city!! “We are one and we are nothing without each other!! “Let’s keep this going, our journey is just beginning !! @NUFC@premierleague#nufc@jamiereuben@PIF_en .” The trio were also captured by NewcastleWorld enjoying a kickabout on the St James’ Park pitch.
