Kieran Trippier has been pictured on crutches and in a protective boot following Newcastle United’s 1-0 win against Aston Villa.
The England right-back’s first-half free-kick was the difference as Eddie Howe’s men opened up a four-point advantage on the Premier League relegation places.

But the result has been tinged with a little disappointment after Trippier, who passed a late fitness test to play, departed on 48 minutes with a foot injury.
The 31-year-old went straight to the RVI and underwent an x-ray as the Magpies held out for a massive three points at St James’ Park.
Trippier then returned to St James’ Park half an hour after full-time and was pictured by NewcastleWorld on crutches and in a protected boot.

Trippier was one of two injuries with Javier Manquillo forced off at the end of the first-half and replaced by Paul Dummett.
Howe said after the game: “(Jamaal Lascelles) Lascelles was illness, picked up in the last couple of days.
“(Javier) Manquillo landed awkwardly on his ankle, so I think it’s is a ligament problem.

“ (Kieran) Trippier got stamped on and he couldn’t continue with a problem on the top of his foot. He’s gone for an X-ray at hospital.
“We’re keeping everything crossed that there is no broken bone there.”
