Tottenham Hotspur will be without three first-team players for the visit of Newcastle United.

While Spurs boss Antonio Conte confirmed Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon are making good progress, neither will be involved against the Magpies.

Skipp, a central midfielder, hasn’t featured since January after suffering with a pelvic problem.

Sessegnon, meanwhile, has been sidelined with a muscular injury, which forced him off at half-time at Everton last month.

Conte explained: “Good news for Skippy and Sessegnon. They are very, very close to being back with the team.

“They’re improving a lot. They’re having important training sessions. Not with the team, apart, but I hope next week to have both players with the team.”

The North London club will also miss full-back Japhet Tanganga, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

Ben Davies was forced to withdraw from international duty with Wales earlier this week but is expected to feature.

“Ben came back with a little problem but he solved this problem and he’s available for the game against Newcastle,” Conte said.

The 28-year-old, who has started 13 consecutive games, has been used in a three-man central defence under Conte with the Italian operating with wing-backs.

Spurs, chasing the Champions League places, have picked up 15 points from a possible 18.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have suffered back-to-back defeats, though sit nine points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Last season’s meeting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw with Callum Wilson scoring a late equaliser via the penalty spot.
