The frightening new-look Newcastle United XI that can challenge for Premier League title if transfer rumours are true

Newcastle United could have a drastically different starting line-up come the Premier League opener in August

The transfer season is almost upon us - with Newcastle United already making waves in the market. Eddie Howe’s side are expected to recruit Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer from Bournemouth, with the defender on Tyneside for a medical.

That would kick-start the Magpies’ incomings ahead of what fans hope will be a busy few months. FFP/PSR restrictions are tight but Newcastle remain confident that business can be done to propel the club back into the European places.

The window officially opens on June 14 - this Friday - the same day Euro 2024 kicks off. Only then can the Magpies announce Kelly as their first summer signing.

As expected, the rumour mill is already churning, a reality Toon fans have come to expect since the Saudi-backed takeover. Newcastle’s business has not been as radical as many predicted following Mike Ashley’s departure, with the regime preferring to meticulously plan each move rather than attract the glamourous household names.

But how can Newcastle expect to line up next season? Who, if anyone, will be the club’s marquee arrival?

Toon chiefs have two-and-a-half months to give Howe the best possible squad to attack the 2024-25 campaign. NewcastleWorld has cut through the nonsense to profile how the Magpies could line up next season.
