Newcastle United are set to jet off to Dubai for their second warm-weather training camp in just eight weeks.

Eddie Howe’s side visited Saudi Arabia in January as a way of bringing the team closer together, all whilst undergoing intense training.

And the experience certainly paid off, with many viewing the trip to Jeddah as the catalyst to the Magpies’ remarkable turnaround.

Newcastle were in the Premier League relegation zone before heading to the Gulf state.

Now, they’re nine points above, and only on Sunday saw a run of nine league games without defeat come to end in controversial fashion at Chelsea.

Newcastle set for Dubai training camp

Howe’s men are expected to fly to the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai - as reported by Training Guru - following the visit to Everton on Thursday night.

Once the trip to Goodison Park - United’s third away game in seven days - has concluded, United don’t play again for another 16 days when they face Tottenham away.

That is due to Crystal Palace’s involvement in the FA Cup quarter-finals and March’s latest round of international fixtures.

The complex which Newcastle are expected to travel to in Dubai hosted Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the beginning of the year.

It is well renowned for top class facilities, including a health club and spa, indoor stadium and an IAAF-standard athletics track.

Indeed, Manchester United regular send their injured players there for treatment, with Magpies transfer target Jesse Lingard among those to visit in recent months.

What Eddie Howe said last week

Newcastle are yet to confirm details of the trip - or if it is actually happening - but Howe confirmed the intention go abroad last week.

“We might well go away,” said Howe said, speaking ahead of 2-1 win at Southampton.

“We’re looking at taking the group somewhere to build, really, on what we did in Saudi, which was a really, really good few days for us.

“I think it really did unite the squad. I think the players felt that, came back and the results were very strong, and the spirit was very good off the back of that.

“So, we’ll look at doing something similar.”
