Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi was left buzzing as the club made Premier League history at Bramall Lane this evening.

The Magpies beat Sheffield United 8-0 to claim back-to-back league wins and in the process record their biggest-ever away victory. It’s also their largest win since September 1999 when they beat the Blades’ Steel City rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

But there was another statistic that Ghodoussi was keen to point out at full-time following goals from Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon, Miguel Almiron, Bruno Gumaraes and Alexander Isak.

“What a performance @NUFC,” Ghodoussi posted on X. “We’re now the only club in Premier League history to score 8 goals in a game by 8 different players”.

Meanwhile, this was Sheffield United’s largest ever defeat in their league history in their 4,988th league game.

It’s also the first time that the Blades have conceded eight goals in a league game since their 10-3 defeat by Middlesbrough in November 1933.
