Callum Wilson’s injury is not serious - with Eddie Howe hopeful the striker will return in the next couple of weeks.
The Newcastle United No.9 was forced off in the 70th-minute during the club’s 3-3 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City last Sunday.

Wilson went for a scan on his hamstring on Monday, which is set to rule the 30-year-old out for at least the trip to Wolves this weekend, plus Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
Howe, after revealing the latest on Wilson, admitted his injury altered United’s plans in the transfer market as a club record deal for Alexander Isak nears completion.
The Magpies head coach said: “We don’t believe it to be serious, we’re hopeful Callum will only be out for a couple of weeks.

“But naturally, we acted slightly off that in terms of we were always looking for an attacking player but it changed our focus slightly on the type.

“We’re delighted to hopefully sign Alex - he’ll be a big player for us.”

It’s a minor setback for Wilson, who spent a large chunk of last season on the sidelines with a calf injury, and his World Cup hopes.
“Callum’s a very positive guy,” Howe said. “He doesn’t dwell on negative emotions. He’s very positive and already looking forward to returning and getting back in amongst the training and players.
“He’s fine. Obviously, there is a slight initial disappointment but he’s focused on his recovery.”

Howe added: “I back Callum 100%.
“I’ve known him for a long time and I’ve never known someone with a better attitude to sport and a better professional.
“He is hugely disappointed to miss every game but I back him and his quality.
“He’s got such an important part of our future this season. He’s already shown that with the goals that he’s scored - the two goals he’s scored have been at the highest level.
