Less than a week into the job and new Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has already revealed a significant commitment to the role.

While Steve Bruce continued to commute to his family residence in the North West during his time at United, Howe has vowed to move his young family, and wife, up to Tyneside.

This significant step proves just how seriously Howe is taking being handed the reins at St James’ Park, which he is seeing as the proudest moment of his career.

‘It is important to commit to the area’

When asked whether he’d be relocating with his family to the North East, Howe said: “Absolutely. That is the plan.

“For me, that is so, so important, that I commit to the area.

“I think with the hours that I am going to work, if I didn't bring my family with me I don't think I would see them. I don't want to be that kind of parent, that's not there for their sons, or that kind of husband.”

‘I’m all in here’

Howe revealed the switch will not be immediate, but will happen in early 2022.

“The plan is to move them up some time after Christmas,” he said.

“My immediate focus is too great and the boys are at school so it is not possible before then.

“I’m all in here and I am going to bring the family with me. They are excited to come.”
