Up to six players could leave Newcastle United on a free transfer at the end of the campaign as their contracts tick into the final months.
With head coach Eddie Howe focused on leading the Magpies to their first Premier League top four finish in 20 years, contract talks have been put on hold.
“I think compared to most seasons, I don’t think we have many players out of contract,” Howe said recently. “Certainly that’s my internal feeling.
“Everyone still has a part to play and no decisions have been made either way yet as to whether players will stay or leave us. They still have a window to show why they should be part of our long-term future.”
Not only this summer, United will also have to look ahead to 2024. Several key players will enter the 2023-24 season in the final year of their contract.
