Eddie Howe’s side are likely to be without Joe Willock, who is an injury doubt with a knee issue, plus key duo Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier.

However, their visitors are also missing some key players - including star midfielder Ruben Neves and top scorer Raul Jimenez.

Neves is also sidelined with a knee injury - sustained in the recent 3-2 home defeat to Leeds United.

The Portuguese international was expected to miss the remainder of the campaign but Bruno Lage revealed on Thursday his injury is not as bad as first feared.

While Neves could return before the end of the season, he will be absence for the Newcastle clash.

Jimenez, meanwhile, is serving the second of his two-match ban after being sent off against Leeds before the international break.

Fabio Silva is set to start in attack in the Mexican’s place.

Elsewhere, the third and final player missing for Wolves is full-back Ki-Jana Hoever.

The former Liverpool youngster is back in training but the trip to the North East will come too soon.

In better news for Lage, Nelson Semendo is in contention to start having missed the last six matches.

Discussing the latest injury, boss Lage said: “(Nelson) Semedo started training this week at a good level.

“Ki also, but in four trainings, he did two with the team, so maybe after this game he can be ready to play. Ruben (Neves) out – until today, we didn’t have any news.

“At the beginning, when we knew what happened, it was serious, but now it’s not as serious as we expected.

“Let’s see what happens with him until the end of the season, if he has time to recover and play some games for us.”
