Thibaut Courtois’ 15-word response when jokingly asked if he’ll ever join Newcastle United

One Newcastle United fan jokingly asked Thibaut Courtois if he’ll sign for the club in the future.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has responded to a fan on Twitter asking if he’ll ever join Newcastle United.

A random question, for sure, and definitely a light-hearted one - but the former Chelsea man surprised supporters by replying.

“I have a friend who’s a massive fan,” Courtois said. “So you have my sympathy for sure.”

Who is the friend? Well, that is a mystery for now, but his response certainly entertained Magpies fans.

“Welcome to Newcastle United, Thibaut,” replied one fan. Another said “your friend’s name isn’t Gareth by any chance lmao?” in reference to the recent speculation surrounding Gareth Bale.

Courtois, 30, lifted his first Champions League title with a man of the match performance against Liverpool almost a fortnight ago.
